Ocean wallpapers are easy to get wrong — pick the wrong crop and you end up with a flat blue rectangle that says nothing. This collection avoids that by covering genuinely different moods of water, from calm and glassy to stormy and violent, with a few surprises mixed in that keep it from feeling like a generic stock-photo dump.

The underwater cave shot is the standout. Sunbeams pierce down through the surface in distinct shafts, lighting up drifting particles and casting the rocky seafloor in deep teal shadow. It has real depth to it — literally — and works especially well as a lock screen because the darker lower portion keeps text readable.

There’s a nice range of water moods here too. A stormy, steel-grey sea with whitecaps breaking mid-frame feels almost cinematic in its restraint — no sky detail, no horizon drama, just the raw texture of rough water. Compare that to the tropical lagoon shot, framed by palm fronds against a brilliant turquoise shallow — postcard-perfect in a way the stormy one deliberately isn’t. Having both in one set means you’re not stuck picking between “moody” and “vacation” as your only two ocean options.

A few pieces break from straight photography entirely. The retro pixel-art illustration of a coastal town at dusk, full moon rising over a quiet beach road, has a Ghibli-adjacent warmth that a photo couldn’t replicate. The pink-and-black aerial wave shot goes the opposite direction — abstract, high-contrast, almost looks like ink in water rather than an actual beach, which makes it a strong pick if you want ocean without it reading as literal travel content.

For something with a bit of personality, Snoopy lying flat on what looks like a boat’s bow, dwarfed by an endless stretch of dark blue water, adds a quiet, almost melancholic humor to the set. And the Porsche parked on a grassy cliff overlooking a sunset sea is less “ocean wallpaper” and more “car wallpaper that happens to have one,” but it earns its spot through sheer composition.

Because several of these lean dark (the storm wave, the underwater cave, the pink-black abstract), they hold up particularly well on OLED iPhones where the deeper tones render with real contrast rather than washing out.

To apply: save your pick, go to Settings → Wallpaper → Add New Wallpaper, select it from your library, then set as lock screen, home screen, or both.
